The Senior Tutor
Technology Made Simple for All Ages
With the start of a New Year, a new business is opening in Kettering, Ohio! The Senior Tutor announces that seniors in the greater Dayton and Cincinnati areas will soon be a lot more tech savvy! Technology for seniors abounds!
Featuring lessons for seniors on computers, smartphones, iPads, and iPhones, The Senior Tutor wants to make life easier for seniors by introducing technology to them in a positive and fun way! Lessons can be one on one or in small comfortable group settings. The Senior Tutor will come go to their house, meet them at their favorite coffee house or even at a senior center. Seniors do not need to have a device at this point – The Senior Tutor will bring some to try out.
Marianne Bailey, founder of The Senior Tutor explains, “There are so many devices that are “senior friendly” that I am confident that we can find a device that will fit each persons needs. These days, things like banking, reading books, researching family ancestry and even chatting with other family members and friends by using programs like Skype, make seniors lives much easier and enables them to be able to stay in their homes for much longer. Going out in bad weather is dangerous for seniors, so if we can help them stay safe, our job is worth it.
Marianne concludes, “We are happy to go the extra mile to help seniors feel safe and secure while learning ways to protect themselves and their family members.
The Senior Tutor has a thirty minute “Online Safety” seminar being taught at various senior homes and centers around Ohio. The focus is on how to stay safe using your devices online. This includes verifying who they are communicating with, giving personal information out, protecting themselves against identity theft, creating strong and safe passwords, and introducing Red Folder – an online security vault making sure your assets are protected and your loved ones know where they are and what your final wishes are. Contact Marianne if you would like to schedule a free seminar or to have her teach you or a loved one technology to improve life skills.
“As a previous rep for Hewlett Packard, I’ve been teaching technology for over twenty years now. My parents were my first clients, as I refused to send baby pictures of my daughter by snail mail, forcing my mom to learn how to check email. Since then, I’ve taught countless people how to use various programs and do multiple things on their computers, including learning how to sell things on eBay and Amazon. We often get phone calls asking us to teach middle aged children’s parents. ‘Powdered Butt Syndrome’ is definitely a problem when it comes to children teaching their own parents about technology. I love what I do and seeing people using their devices is a reward in itself!”
